Location
Puerto de la Cruz is a small and quiet municipality of almost 9 km2 on the northwestern slope of Tenerife, within a large, natural amphitheater as is the Valley of La Orotava.
Presided over by the spectacular Mount Teide, this miniature continent had attracted the attention of travelers and scientists for its climate and the richness of its landscapes centuries before tourism was invented.
Fruit of the confluence of a series of natural factors, derived from its proximity to the Tropic of Cancer, Puerto de la Cruz enjoys a particular microclimate that along with the beauty of the landscape soon attracted travelers from all over Europe from the dawn the 19th century, turning the city into the cradle of tourism in the Canary Islands.
